Borderplex Connect selected for the Dallas Fed's Broadband Buildout Initiative

DALLAS—Borderplex Connect has been selected to participate in the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Broadband Buildout Initiative launched this year to expand internet access in the Eleventh District.

The Broadband Buildout Initiative goal is to help close the economic and social gap between those who have reliable access to the internet and those who do not.

Participants were selected by members of the initiative’s independent digital inclusion advisory committee. The Dallas Fed does not participate in selection decisions.

Borderplex Connect is based in El Paso, Texas, and is a consortium of public, private and nonprofit partners that are dedicated to advancing digital inclusion in West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

The Dallas Fed does not provide funding or technology support directly through the program. But it does work with nonprofit Connect Humanity to facilitate access to technical guidance and funding from outside sources for the selected community groups. Qualifying projects target less than 100,000 households that face limitations on technical expertise or challenges with financing.

Four communities were selected to participate in the Broadband Buildout Initiative.
